The Deception Bay Peer Support Group is a group for people with disability, run by people with disability living in the Deception Bay area. Group Convenors Dale Gonelli and Kevin Willis host monthly meetings at the Deception Bay Darts Club.

The Deception Bay Peer Support Group discusses a range of topics such as emergency preparedness, services and supports, the National Disability Insurance Scheme, and social inclusion. They regularly meet socially for a BBQ on the Deception Bay foreshore. The group collaborates with the community, including local businesses and the Moreton Bay Regional Council, to raise awareness around disability access and inclusion. They also organize events in the Deception Bay community, such as shopping center meet-and-greets and disability expos.

The group meets on the third Wednesday of the month at Deception Bay Darts Club, 32 Bayview Terrace, Deception Bay.

“What I love about the Deception Bay Peer Support Group is the social aspect and the fact that everyone is different. It is interesting to listen to their stories and different life experiences.”
