NDIS Review Report

On 30 June 2023 the Australian Government released its NDIS Review report, What we have heard. This report outlines what the NDIS Review team has heard so far from you.

QDN will be engaging with members and putting together responses to this report and key questions and we will provide more information about how people can connect and give feedback in coming weeks.

The report is split up into two parts:

Part A - Five key challenges

Part A of the report draws out five issues which they think are the most challenging and important.

  1. Why is the NDIS an oasis in a desert?
  2. What does reasonable and necessary mean?
  3. Why are there many more children in the NDIS than expected?
  4. Why aren’t NDIS markets working?
  5. How do we ensure that the NDIS is sustainable?

Part B – 10 priority areas for improvement

Part B provides more detail on 10 areas you have identified for improvement.

  1. Applying and getting a plan
  2. A complete and joined up ecosystem of support
  3. Defining reasonable and necessary
  4. Early childhood supports
  5. The support and service marketplace
  6. Measuring outcomes and performance
  7. Achieving long term outcomes
  8. Help accessing support
  9. Supported living and housing
  10. Participant safeguards

QDN will be engaging  with members and putting together responses to this report and key questions and we will provide more information about how people can connect and give feedback in coming weeks.

How can you be involved?

The NDIS Review team is responding to the issues you have identified. They need your insights to help to answer questions you think are important to you. They also want to know if they have missed anything important to you.

You can share your ideas through an online survey as well as in-person and online engagement opportunities through the Review. Your views will inform the recommendations to government the review will make in October 2023.

Giving information to this review is voluntary. You can choose not to answer some questions or stop at any time, for any reason. You do not have to provide your personal information (such as your name).

The survey will close Friday 25 August 2023.

Support to complete the survey

You can either complete the online survey, or make a written, audio or video submission. If you have a support person, advocate or trusted person, they can also help you.

If you are Deaf or hard of hearing or if you are a First Nations person (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) and you would like to have your say in your language contact the NDIS Review. They can provide interpreters and translators.
