Patricia Marsh
Rockhampton Peer Support Group
Why did you join QDN?
Because my passion is to improve the lives of people with disability and to advocate for people with disability to improve their own lives
What has been good about being a part of the group?
I feel more confident in speaking up for myself and advocating for myself and others.
What has been one of the groups achievements?
Helping people with disability in Rockhampton prepare their Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness plans (PCEP) and getting them to think about what they would do in a disaster.
What skills / knowledge has it give you?
Speaking up for myself and finding out about services through my networks. If I can’t help someone directly then I know someone who can help.
What would you say to others thinking of joining?
Come along you never know what you might get out of being part of the group and what you might learn.
Tell us something about you?
I love helping people solve small issues. I love my dog and thinking for myself.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I love gardening. I find it relaxing and therapeutic. It is so satisfying to grow something from seed to harvest.
