David Conway

I’ve worked as an access consultant and disability advocate over the past 10 years. Some of the organisations I’ve worked out include Mackay regional Council, Mackay Hospital and Health service, ideal placements, Mackay advocacy, sporting wheelies and QDN. I have always enjoyed what I do.

Being involved in the community and helping improve access and inclusion for everyone is really important to me. I believe when everyone has access to information, buildings, services and are included, all of society benefits. I believe that access and inclusion involves but most importantly includes everyone. Because when we include everyone in the discussion that’s when true access and true inclusion can be met.

I have been a vision impaired artist since 2011. Drawn over 100 charcoal drawings, painted 1120 paintings. Sold 85 charcoal drawings. Sold over 950 paintings. Some of those ones I have sold include ones I have donated to local charities to help fund raise. I am also a Member of White ribbon Day foundation organising committee sense 2012. White ribbon Day is a day in November to stop domestic violence of all types. I want to be part of the QDN board as QDN is a great organisation. They do amazing work. I believe I can bring a wealth of knowledge including access and inclusion to the board, treating everyone equally, giving everyone a chance. Because I believe regardless of who you are and regardless of your abilities everyone deserves a chance at life, at employment, hobbies, and family. Here is an overview of my experience.
