POSITION TITLE:    Communications and Marketing Officer

CLASSIFICATION:   Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 – Social and Community Services Employee, Level 3 (salary packaging available)

REMUNERATION:         $73,795.28 - $79,135.16 per annum (Pro-rata if applicable), plus 11.5% Superannuation, 17.5% leave loading and the option to salary sacrifice up to $15,900 to increase your take home pay

HOURS:                   Permanent/Full-Time (38 hours per week)

QDN is a member based representative body of over 2,000 people with a disability and their supporters. Our vision is that people with disability are active and valued citizens of Queensland. Our mission is to empower people with disability to be fully included as citizens in the social and economic life of the community.

QDN’s work is centred around a strong state-wide network of people with disability across Queensland, to inform, connect, lead and influence change to deliver an inclusive Queensland community.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS AND REPORTING STRUCTURES

The Communications and Marketing Officer reports to the Communication, Marketing and Membership Lead

This position works as part of a team where interdependencies and collaboration with col­leagues, QDN members and internal and external stakeholders is critical to the successful delivery of projects, services and activities.

POSITION SCOPE AND PURPOSE

The appointee will work within the requirements of relevant legislation including the Queensland Human Rights Act, and QDN Quality System and demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement and contribute to internal and external auditing processes as required under ISO9001.

KEY REPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Fulfil this role in accordance with QDN’s policies and procedures, and:

  • organising forums, workshops, special events that are held in person/online or a in a hybrid format;
  • contribute to development of information materials and resources to share via communications across QDN’s work;
  • setting up QDN events via Eventbrite and zoom meetings. Booking interpreters/captioning; eDMs to attendees and practical support if face to face;
  • support with Q-Bloggers – member led communication group;
  • general info provision and engagement with people with disability;
  • undertake website maintenance and updates, updating news bulletins and communication collateral that is accessible across QDN’s work;
  • support QDN’s social media and LinkedIn and develop writing basic content for social media and LinkedIn;
  • setting up and gather content for quarterly newsletter;
  • video editing for fortnightly e-news communication;
  • take action to maintain QDN’s paper and electronic records and documents in accordance with the organisation’s procedures;
  • assist in the preparation and production of documents, reports, correspondence, presentations, project spreadsheets in a timely manner and as required;
  • as part of QDN’s project support, assist with triaging and responding to telephone calls and handling email enquiries;
  • assist with and promote membership growth activities through communication channels in line with strategic and organisational plans;
  • ensure compliance with QDN’s Quality Management System;
  • other duties as required by the Line Manager, CEO or Director Policy and Strategic Engagement.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

The essential knowledge, skills, and attributes of the appointee include:

  • good verbal and written communication and engagement skills that cover a broad range of stakeholders including people with disability, community and government organisations and private business;
  • well-developed communication, inter-personal and negotiation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively via phone, written and online;
  • ability to deal with sensitive matters with discretion (confidentially and tactfully);
  • be able to plan and prioritise your workload;
  • the ability to follow set procedures, with attention to detail;
  • be able to handle multiple tasks and see each through to completion to hit key deadlines;
  • strong computer literacy skills across Microsoft office suite, with knowledge of excel, video editing and handling social media;
  • work within a team environment and independently as required;
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role;
  • commitment to QDN’s values, mission and vision.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Qualifications and/or relevant experience in the areas of marketing and communication are required.

REMUNERATION AND CONDITIONS

The position is based in Brisbane.

QDN operates under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 and the Communication & Project Support Officer is paid at level 3 for up to 38 hours per week.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING

The appointee must hold and keep current a Positive Exemption Notice (Yellow Card) or willing to obtain one prior to commencement of employment.  Advise QDN of any change in circumstances that may impact on the continuation of registration or licence.

The ability to produce documentation to ensure you have the right to work in Australia.  A current Queensland Driver’s Licence may be required for some positions which include travel.
