People come together in Caboolture

The Caboolture Peer Support Group meets on the last Saturday of every month at the Caboolture Sports Club. Matt McCracken, Group Convenor does a great job bringing people with disability in the Caboolture community to talk about the topics that are important to them and support people to meet to find out information about services and supports in their community. The group has covered topics ranging from keeping up to date on changes to the National Disability Insurance Scheme to getting prepared for emergencies and disasters with the Moreton Bay Regional Council as guest speakers.

For the April meeting the group came together to record some digital stories.  People shared their experiences on how being part of the group had provided them with information and support particularly around disability matters. Common themes were the social connection they felt when meeting face to face with other members and the relevance of the information that Matt presented to the group with each month’s different topic.
