Gympie Peer Support Group are helping people with disability prepare for emergencies
Michael Condon, Gympie Peer Support Group Convenor has been active in the Gympie community, meeting with service providers and people with disability to promote the peer support group. Michael is passionate about the showcasing what people with disability can do in the community and how the peer support group can be active in Gympie and work together to get up to date information.
On 8 October 2021, the Gympie Peer Support Group will hold a workshop to help people with disability to make a plan for an emergency or disaster. Gympie Mayor, Glen Hardwick, and local representatives from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, will join the workshop to talk about how the council and local government can work together to provide emergency and disaster support to the community in Gympie.
People with disability and their conversation partners (families, carers, and support workers) are welcome to join this free workshop to start talking about making a plan for an emergency or disaster.
